When you wake up your leptin levels might be around 20, this is low and your brain interprets low leptin levels as starvation. Because of this you feel hungry and go ahead to seek food.

Now you’ve eaten and your fat cells have released more leptin into your blood, your leptin level is now 90, this high level of leptin signals to your brain that you are full, so you no longer feel the desire to eat anymore.

After a while, your leptin levels begin to taper down again until it becomes low and you feel hungry once again.

This system keeps us from starving or overeating, both of which helps us stay healthy.

Your brain still can’t recognize this signal and keeps on seeking out food. The cycle continues. This is the horrible effect leptin resistance has on individuals.

The brain doesn’t perceive that enough food has come in, and reads that as starvation.
